Note from Karen: This is a dog that
literally had no chance of being saved until Cara and her husband came along.
They spent a lot of time and money rehabilitating him and working with him.
He was like Helen Keller before her teacher came along. And that's not an
exaggeration. He was out of control. Unfortunately he is not handling the new
human family members. And because he hates to be crated they are willing to
foster him a little longer in an attempt to find him a good home. Please help
us forward this email. And contact Cara directly if you are interested. Thank
you! From Cara: It makes me so sad
to even send this email, but I need to find a new home for one of my dogs,
Foster (pictures attached). We have
had him 3 years or so and he is 4 years old.
UTD on vax and current on Heartworm
prevention. He was in 7 homes before we got him and we finally gave him a
chance. He is completely deaf and
super sweet, but requires a lot of interaction/attention. We have trained him, purchased a vibrating
collar, taught him sign language, house trained him, crate trained him,
etc. Bottom line is, he has shown some
aggressive tendencies to my almost 2 year old and with another one on the way
I can’t trust him. He hasn’t actually
done anything to her, but I just can’t risk that around children. It would be my
hope that he would go to someone who could spend some time playing with him,
maybe has another dog in the home (the other homes prior to us had no other
animals and he relies on them to be his ears), and no small children. Older kids would be ok because they could
walk him, run with him, play fetch with him, etc. He is constantly at my feet and very loyal
and sweet. He will take some time to
get adjusted, but he will do great and I really don’t want to take him to a
shelter. Please forward to anyone you
know that might be interested and I can give them more details, but we are
wanting to move pretty quickly on this. |
