In very urgent situation. High on euthanization list at the Springfield, Missouri in the Southwest Missouri Humane Society
and could be PTS any day now. Jager is deaf and at least partially blind due to cataracts. He is a quick learner... learned to sit and shake in one day with hand signals. Sweet, laid back temperament. Startles easily due to deafness, but has never nipped or snapped to my knowledge. Not high energy at all and just wants to hang out with you. Tested well with other dogs and cats. HE IS an escape artist and can probably climb a standard chain link fence. He'll come up to you tail wagging and just lay his nose on your knee. At the shelter he is scared to death and stays in the corner and is deteriorating since he can't hear or see very well. Does well with shelter staff once he knows their scent, but is not appealing to adopters. Has a deep, raspy, throaty bark (probably because he can't hear himself). He is UTD on all shots, heartworm negative, and intact. Weighs approximately 32 lbs. Has obviously been neglected for a long time. Nails are long, teeth are yellowed and coat is dull. He needs some TLC, a good grooming and premium nutrition. May not do well with small children who are not familiar with deaf dogs. |
