Lucky aka Peaches

Urgent:  11/2/11

Breed: Pittie {mix}

Age/Sex:   1.5 yrs/Female

This is Lucky or Peaches or Princess. Whatever you might choose to call this extremely sweet pup, Lucky is not really appropriate now. Life has not been good for this 1 and 1/2 y/o Pittie mix girl. As is often the case in rescue, we have no idea what happened in Lucky's life until about 2 months ago, when she was hit by a car driven by strangers. It was late one night on a country road and the impact of the blow to Lucky's head shattered the fog light on the strangers' car. Lucky was taken to a nearby farmhouse and was subsequently taken to AC in Columbia, Missouri the next day. AC took her to the Central Missouri Humane Society, which treated the injuries to her head and paw, but informed the strangers that Lucky would be euthanized within 7days without rescue because Pits could not be adopted from the shelter. The strangers located a local rescue to pull Lucky from the shelter and adopted her.

   If Lucky's story ended here, it would be a happy one. She has a family who thinks she is an amazing pup and loves her very much. She has recovered from her injuries with the exception of her hearing, because now Lucky is completely deaf. Still, Lucky has learned some hand signals and is happy and secure in the home that she has had since September 4th. She lives with a 3 y/o male Beagle and a 10 y/o male Lab. Even when the Beagle plays too rough, Lucky does not object, but just walks away. She is curious, but not aggressive toward cats and loves kids. She is her dad's favorite dog! She is UTD on all her vaccinations, is microchipped and was spayed about 2 weeks ago. She needs to be HW tested.

   The problem for Lucky is that she is the third dog in a rental home that belongs to a family member who no longer wants her there, and who has decided that she needs to be out of the home NOW!! If rescue is not found for this pup immediately, she will be returned to CMHS where she will be euthanized within 7 days, solely because of her breed!! We cannot allow that to happen to this amazing pup!! Please contact if you can help us save Lucky's life!! If you cannot help her directly, please forward Lucky's info on to all your friends and contacts in rescue who may be able to help her!!

   Please don't let this precious dog die alone at the shelter after all that she has managed to go through and survive in her short life!! Help us find rescue in time to save this wonderful dog's life!! Then you can name her anything you want or maybe you'll just call her Lucky.....

   Thank you so very much for your help!!
