Zeus

Post Date: 2/16/11

Breed:  Cocker Spaniel

Age/Sex:  6-7 mo/Male

I pulled this little boy from the Sherman Animal Shelter.  I have had him now for about 3 weeks. He’s about 6-7 months old, very smart but difficult to train in part I believe because of his hearing loss.

I have managed to crate train him, as long as I am within his visual field when he is crated.  I’ve taught him sit, down and come with hand signals and we are working on stay and heel.  I am using a feather duster to teach him “watch me”.
He responds well to all of his hand signals and is learning to walk on a leash.

He’s unbelievable affectionate.  He is the happiest boy you will ever meet.  (The groomer asked me if his tail was his wind up, because it’s constantly wagging!)

We are still having some issues with house training.  When I really watch him, he doesn’t have accidents, but if I get busy and am not paying close enough attention, he will wander off and relieve himself indoors.   Zeus has been neutered.  He has received all of his shots and I also had him microchipped
