aka
Blanca

Update 8/10/11

Breed:  Great Dane

Age/Sex:  3.5 yrs/Female

This dog was found wondering in Elgin. It looks like she recently had a litter of puppies, but the puppies were nowhere to be found. The dog was taken to the shelter, but nobody came to claim her.

Blanca is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. She looooves people and loves getting attention. She is a great dog and very easy going, except for the fact that she does not get along with other dogs, so she can only go to a home with no other pets.  Blanca (aka Lil' Girl) can hear, but her hearing is limited. She can either hear out of only one ear, or maybe she is just hard of hearing.  When we enter the room, she doesn't hear us and when there is loud noise she can't tell where it is coming from.

Blanca is now spayed; she is house broken and crate trained. She likes to go for walks and ride in the car, but she is terrified of storms and rain, probably because she was kept outside during bad weather, so she gets very scared. Whoever gets this sweet girl will get sooo much love in return.

Update: 8/10/11

Blanca is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet.  She loves people and really enjoys getting attention.  When she first came into rescue she was in awful shape, very skinny, dirty and lots of nasty sores on her body and lets, but now she is looking so much better, especially after being spayed and having 3 tumors removed.  She is now absolutely gorgeous, not to forget, well trained, because she went to a special training camp where she learned to be a very well behaved dog.

For a dog that was kept outdoors all her life, Blanca makes an awesome indoor pet. She is a great snuggle bug and a wonderful companion.  She likes to lay on the bed and in the evenings she’ll sit and watch TV with you.  Blanca is house broken and crate trained.  She knows to sit before getting fed and when ready to go out the door.  She loves to go for walks and rids in the car. She also likes rolling on the grass and sun bathing.  When we first go Blanca, she did not get along with other dogs.  That is because nobody ever took the time to socialize her, but thanks to a great trainer in Hondo TX, Blanca is now living with other dogs, as well as cats.  She also has some other barn animals around, which she completely ignores, although before the training she would have gone to eat them.  She is doing so well now!
