Piper

Update: 11/11/11

Breed:  German Wirehaired Pointer {mix}

Age/Sex:  1.5 yr/Female

Left abandoned in a ponding basin, Piper is still waiting for the commitment she deserves- a forever family!  She loves her foster family, but is ready for her next adventure!  When she’s not busy enjoying her favorite peanut butter Kong, she’s outside exploring and learning new things all the time!  Piper is very quick to learn, and can’t get enough attention from humans.  Piper has requested that her new home come with a dog or two to keep her company- but no cats or other small animals. She loves to be playing outdoors and has become quite the pro at hunting “vermin” (squirrels, rabbits, mice, etc.)

She is still a big puppy, but already knows “sit,” “down,” ”no,” and how to “wait” for her food- it really helps if treats are involved though!  She’d also like me to mention that she is kennel trained.

Piper is a great dog; she just needs the right dog friendly family!  She is adoptable from Valley Animal Center in Fresno, CA.  Her adoption fee is $175, but that includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip, deworming & flea treatment!  Quite a deal!

She has grown fond of other dogs and really just needs to be somewhere where she can “just BE a dog”.  She can be extremely hyper-active when first bringing her out of her kennel,  however she has been working with professional dog trainers and has gotten much better at getting her hyper-activity out of her system quickly  She loves being here at the shelter.  Always something new going on, she doesn’t have to deal with her separation anxiety, etc…. but for every day she occupies a kennel, that’s another day we can’t save another dog from animal control- leaving us in a desperate situation……
