Putt Putt

Post Date:  9/1/10

Breed:  Australian Cattle Dog

Age/Sex1.5 yrs/Male

He is a dear darling dog but deserves more time and attention than we can give him.  My husband wants to keep him but I think he really deserves more.  He is perfectly safe here, gets food, water and medicine when needed, BUT he does not get lots of attention and does not have much interaction with other dogs or people.

Name- Putt-Putt

Breed- Australian Cattle Dog

Gender- Male

Age- about 1 and a half

Location- just outside Pensacola, FL.

Bio-  We are Putts fourth home. The first home didn’t look after him as a small puppy.  He went to a friend of ours who lost her job and home.  Then he went to some people who turned out not to be able to afford vet care for him.  Their son left a bucket of floor cleaning out and Putt drank the water.  He became extremely ill and because of our friend, we picked up the vet bill for him.  He then came to stay with us.  At the time we had 13 other rescues in our home.  We are getting older (in our 70s now) with some health problems and cannot give Putt the time and attention he deserves.  He is just as sweet as can be, but we have no experience training deaf dogs.  He is well crate trained and goes readily into his crate at night and can stay up to 10 hours with no problem.  He likes to play with our younger Lab when we put her in his yard.  Because of his deafness he have him separated from our others where he cannot get hidden or hurt.  He will NOT use a dog house during the day when it rains even though he has 2 to choose from.  At night his crate is in my husband’s art studio.  He is a little OCD about light and will chase shadows.  He does pretty well with a leash which is how I move him from the yard to the studio.  He will bark at new people but is friendly once they are in his yard.  He has had his vaccinations and is heart worm negative, on preventive.  He is not yet neutered.  He is all blue/black, NO BROWN
