Reese

Breed:  Australian Shepherd

Age/Sex:  2 yrs Male

HI, my name is Reese. Let me tell you a little about me. I was born in West Virginia and had a great owner since I was 7 weeks old. I was living the good life until my owner, who was in the military, got deployed. The next thing you knew I was in a shelter, just trying to stay alive. Lucky for me, Aussie Rescue heard about me and I was saved. Before I knew it I was on a transport heading north to a foster home. Now here I am just waiting for an adopter to give me a great forever home.

I’ve been told that I’m from a merle to merle breeding which has caused me to be deaf. Don’t feel sorry for me though, because being deaf is all I know. My foster mom says I am one of the funniest, most entertaining dogs she has known, a great cuddlebug and an energetic tug-playing, ball chaser. Don’t I sound like a really fun guy to have around?! In fact my foster mom likes me so much that she took me for a class at
Smarty Dog Training Center. The trainer thought I was great too and I had the time of my life learning all kinds of cool stuff. I really liked that agility stuff. Boy, would I love it if I found a home that wanted to try that with me.

My foster home has 6 other dogs in it and I’m doing just fine with them. Every once in awhile I snag a bone from the other dogs if I think I can get away with it though. I also don’t mind playing by myself. Just keep those chew bones around and I’m a happy guy.

My foster mom says I have a good amount of energy for a 2.5 year old boy. I go for a 4 mile run every day, so I’d be a great jogging buddy. You and I could stay in shape together. I also know some hand signals like sit, down, stay, come, and watch. Pretty smart wouldn’t you say?

My foster mom says I should only be placed with kids over 10 because I’m exuberant. Fancy word, hunh? I also need a fenced yard so I don’t get hurt. If you want to find out some more information about living with a really cool deaf dog please visit www.deafdogs.org and our page about living with a deaf dog Right now I’m living in central
Connecticut. If you think you would like to add me to your family please, please, please email Pat and ask about me. Hope to hear from you soon.
