When I decided to adopt a dog in the summer of 2003 I wasn't exactly looking to adopt a deaf pet. It wasn't really an issue since the only dog I ever had as a kid was deaf, but I didn't really think of it as an adult. I came upon Blue, my deaf red heeler, at Maxfund. I was instantly in love with him and there was no question on adopting him. He has turned out to be an amazing dog. He is really smart and knows sign language and has become an integral part of my life. Blue is very gentle natured and extremely mellow for a cattle dog. He is probably the most well rested dog on earth since all he does is sleep. He is my baby though! In the summer of 2005 I decided I wanted to get Blue a friend and my friend started emailing me dogs. She emailed me another deaf dog from Maxfund. Once again I was instantly enamored and adopted Tilly, a white Aussie mix. The two together are hilarious and have become great pals. I am proud to own my two little "deafies" as I call them. They are really great dogs and I wouldn't trade them for the world!
